To support our European Headquarter in Bern/Switzerland, we are looking for an
IT Desktop Support Technician/System Administrator
Core responsibilities will encompass:
* delivering second level on-sight IT support in our Bern office
* This includes the support of hardware and software problems that could not be solved remotely by the first level agents, on Windows XP Desktops and Laptops as well as issues with printers and other peripheral devices
* You will also handle all IT purchasing related tasks as well as assist and support the third level System Engineers as well as the Networking and Telco Engineers in setting up, administering and maintaining backend systems
* All tasks and requests will be assigned in the Remedy problem management system and you will use this system to document your work
* You will maintain user satisfaction by understanding user expectations; then responding and resolving problems in a timely manner within our defined SLA
* You must be able to deal with assignments in various stages of completion as well as enjoy working in a fast paced environment
* A successful candidate will be one that is outgoing in personality and excels in oral and written communication
Experience, Qualifications & Personal Characteristics:
* AS in Computer Science or equivalent experience and education.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in some type of IT support environment.
* Advanced experience in supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2003 including Outlook, Microsoft Exchange and AD structure
* Knowledge in TCP/IP LAN and WAN/VPN environment
* Familiar with Helpdesk Management Systems (Remedy, Peregrine, Clarify, etc.)
* Excellent communication skills and etiquette and 100% committed to customers.
* Ability to work independently as well as enthusiastic teamwork approach
* High degree of professionalism and integrity
* Strong troubleshooting and problem solving techniques, resiliency in the face of continual change and ability to handle high demands
* Flexibility to work overtime.
* Programming skills would be an additional asset (example: WSH, ASP .NET, Perl , etc.)
* Fluent in oral and written English and German is a must. Any of the following is a strong plus: French, Swedish, Polish, Italian, Spanish
